Fire Alarms: In houses, there are two types of alarms, ionization which is better at detecting flames from fires, and photoelectric which is better at detecting smoldering fires.

Escape Ladders: Some houses have escape ladders normally in a house with a basement with window wells or a house/apartment that is more than one story high.

Fire Extinguishers: Very few people have fire extinguishers, but most fire extinguishers can only contain fires that are small and it is recommended that there should be a fire extinguisher on every floor in your house.

Escape Plan: SInce there are only 30 seconds to get out of a burning house, there should be an escape plan and there should be more than one escape route just in case one side exit is blocked.

Fireproof Safes: Having a fireproof safe for documents or valuable is important because although insurance can take care of more of the furniture and “rebuilding” your house, jewels and documents won’t be able to survive the fire and they have to be in a fireproof safe to be saved.

Common Fire hazards: Everyone should know and understand which places have the likeliest chance of catching fire and over three-quarters of fires come from common hazards.
